Garner, NC – On Tuesday, March 3, 2020, nearly 200 guests gathered at The Grand Marquise Ballroom to recognize seven professional first responders for their commitment to public service. The catered-breakfast event, now in its third year of production, received the support of 25 small businesses who took the time to be part of the celebration of this year’s recognized first responders.
The seven professionals recognized for their “above and beyond” commitment, nominated by their working colleagues, include:
- Garner Police Department’s Officer Patrick McGuire
- Garner Fire-Rescue’s Firefighter First Class Zack Johnson
- Wake County Sheriff’s Office’s Lieutenant Kenneth Bagwell and Deputy Ferrel Reynolds
- North Carolina State Highway Patrol’s Trooper Ryan A. Chernoff
- Wake County Emergency Medical Services’s Hannah Brantley and District Chief Ryan Lewis
Thanks to a sold-out attendance and the support of event sponsors, Garner Local Heroes made two $3,000 donations to two local beneficiaries, The 200 Club of Wake County and Garner PAAL.
The 200 Club of Wake County is an organization of concerned citizens dedicated to
providing immediate financial help for the spouse and children of Police Officers, Sheriff Deputies, Firemen, EMS members, and North Carolina State Highway Patrol serving in Wake County who lose their life in the line of duty.
The Garner Police Athletic/Activities League (PAAL) is a youth crime prevention program that
utilizes educational, athletic and recreational activities to create trust and understanding between police officers and youth.
